ABOUT CLEANUP TLV
CleanUp TLV is a community of volunteers who want to clean up and beautify Tel Aviv, focusing on litter prevention, waste reduction and community beautification. Our aim isn't just to clean up Tel Aviv in the short term, it's to make Tel Avivians more socially responsible and more considerate community members, actively engaging Tel Avivians of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds to work together and make Tel Aviv a cleaner and greener city.
Tel Aviv today is a beautiful city with a huge littering problem. Everywhere you look, trash and cigarette butts litter the city's beautiful parks, beaches and public spaces. Have you wondered how a city that prides itself on being so tech saavy, cosmopolitan and socially progressive can be so backwards in the way it treats its environment? CleanUp TLV was founded to bring Tel Avivans and the way we treat our city up to par.
In our future Tel Aviv, socially responsible and aware Tel Avivians of all ages throw their trash where it belongs - in garbage bins - and recycling is as much a part of our lives as is the beach. In our perfect Tel Aviv, people aren't just taking care of their city, they are teaching their friends and family to be responsible too. Ultimately, the result will be a cleaner, greener and more beautiful city where less waste is created and where we all consciously contribute to our environment.
CleanUP TLV seeks to engage Tel Avivians of all ages in cleaning up the city. From introducing curriculum about social responsibility and the environment into classrooms to getting the average Tel Avivian to change his behavior and teach his neighbor, we are planning on reaching far and wide to effect change.
Let's spread the word and get people talking about the problem. Through ad campaigns, billboards and some other surprises, CleanUp TLV aims to introduce the language of littering into daily conversation in Tel Aviv. See someone tossing something that should go into the garbage can on the floor? Say something! If not to that person, than at least to your friend. Let's make people more aware of their behavior and also be more aware of ours!
The City of Tel Aviv isn't doing enough to encourage recycling and proper trash disposal. CleanUp TLV plans on targeting the city and shop owners to increase the access Tel Avivans have to garbage, recycling and composting bins, and to get the City and local vendors to encourage and support good environmental behavior (and penalize litterers!)
CleanUp TLV aims to have a real presence on the streets of Tel Aviv both in language and in action.
